Among the shadows of ancient forests, the legend of a young man of innate beauty flourished. Sculpted by divine hands, he advanced with gentle steps through the filtered light of the foliage; his eyes were mirrors of the sky, and his hair strands of gold woven by the Muses. His figure was a hymn to perfection, but the self-admiration he possessed resulted in denial of the love that knocked at his heart.
Echo, a nymph with a silvery voice, fell in love with the young man of divine features and with melodic words tried to approach him and capture his attention. In vain was the attempt. He, absorbed in his own beauty, rejected the call of that enamored heart, and the nymph, saddened, retreated among the trees. Her laughter, until then joyful, became the eternal echo of unrequited love. Unaware of Echo’s suffering, the young man continued his path through the woods.
Nature manifested itself with its secrets and wonders in an attempt to make the young man appreciate the richness of the world. The young man was unable to appreciate anything other than his own beauty until one day he came upon a crystal-clear body of water. His reflection, channeled perfection, awakened in him an insatiable desire, but the waters, silently wise, whispered a hidden truth to him: true love cannot blossom solely from self-admiration. Awareness struck him like a sudden ray of light.
Troubled by the thirst for an unattainable love, the young man immersed himself in the waters that reflected his face. His body dissolved, mingling with the river’s waters. From this act of apparent tragedy, a delicate flower was born, a symbol of rebirth and awareness, a silent monument that now grows on the slopes of Mount Subasio, witness to a legend that continues to dance among the shadows of the woods, like an eternal song of love and awareness.

The Pink Stone
Experience and inventiveness merge in the creative process aimed at enhancing the characteristic “Red Scale,” the original name of the Pink Stone of Mount Subasio. A rocky formation composed of limestones, characterized by multiple shades of red, the Pink Stone of Mount Subasio is extracted from the height that bestows its name. This rocky material, exclusive to the Umbrian territory, was worked by local artisans who with chisel and other simple tools shaped and polished it to achieve the desired decoration.
Today as then, local artisans work the Pink Stone inspired by the ancient technique of rustication, a heritage of Italian Renaissance architecture.
To achieve this technique, the stone is struck, cut, and incised; through hammer and chisel, an irregular effect is obtained. The extreme precision of the smoothing gives it the desired curvature. Finally, the stone is finished in detail, with useful and appropriate equipment, thus assuming the surprising appearance of a precious gem, pride of the native, wonder of the foreigner.
Vodivì, thanks to the rooted passion of its artisans, preserves the rules of precision and manual skill of the past, leading this ancient technique into the modern age through the improvement of processes and the use of new tools capable of enhancing the authentic prestige of tradition.
